About This Writing Journal

I have been writing newsletters to my family and friends since I began my freshman year of Bible College in 2023. In my letters, I included original poetry, and my intention was to eventually incorporate short stories also. My readership encouraged my interest in writing poetry. At the same time, I was encouraged by my friends in college to complete one of the books I had begun in my childhood, and my teachers encouraged and developed my writing skill. As I contemplated resolutions for the new year, I decided to seriously get back to writing. This journal was then created for the purposes of improving my writing through regular practice and feedback.

About Me

I’m a follower of Jesus Christ from the midwestern United States who enjoys skillful creative writing. A few of my favorite works include The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara, Essay on Criticism by Alexander Pope, and The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. A few of my favorite authors include C.S. Lewis, Randy Alcorn, and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Peripherally, I enjoy running cross-country, walking, journaling, planning, tea, coffee, and movie nights.

I credit my love of creative writing to my older brother. When we were children, I tended to do whatever he did, and avid consumers of Dr. Who, Star Wars, and Star Trek both, we wrote science fiction stories. My mom is a songwriter, and I picked up her habit of expressing herself with rhythm and rhyme, also. In 8th grade, I had a very encouraging literature teacher, who singlehandedly propelled my habit of creative writing into high school. Not long ago, my friends at college encouraged me to finish one of the books I’d begun as a child, and I finally decided to take writing seriously.
